Yingcheng Zhongcui: A Harmonious Blend of Western Calmness and Chinese Elegance

Exhibition Center Design by Kelly Lin Marries Tradition with Modernity

Located in Xiaogan, Hubei Province, China, the exhibition center is part of the Yingcheng National Mining Park, a new ecotourism town developed by China Towering Group. The center, completed in June 2019, is nestled by a lake, offering visitors stunning views and a peaceful retreat. The project covers an area of 723 square meters and houses functional halls for reception, negotiation, recreation, and interaction.

The design of the exhibition center is deeply rooted in local traditions. Kelly Lin drew inspiration from the warmth and modesty of hot springs, gypsum, and salt. The use of natural materials such as wood, stone, hessian, bamboo, and rattan in the interior design reflects this inspiration. The space is dominated by gypsum gray and natural wood color, creating a serene and welcoming atmosphere.

Unique features of the design include rustic wooden chairs and stools, a polished marble table, and rattan handicrafts. An overhead chandelier composed of branches and bubble-like acrylic lamps adds to the relaxing and elegant ambiance. These elements highlight the center's unique blend of Western calmness and Chinese elegance.

One of the challenges in designing the space was to create a sense of belonging and highlight the beauty of life. Kelly Lin succeeded in this by integrating local cultural elements with modern design skills. The result is a harmonious space that dialogues with nature and allows visitors to experience the essence of the local culture.

The Yingcheng Zhongcui exhibition center has been recognized for its exceptional design, winning a Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise, innovation, and artistic skill.
